Derek Jones is a Partner and his practice focuses primarily on litigious matters in civil and criminal courts, as well as a wide range of domestic tribunals. Derek has significant Property, Commercial and Employment Law experience and enjoys the rare distinction of being ranked by Chambers and Partners in two jurisdictions: Jamaica and Cayman.
Derek Jones acted as Head of Litigation at a leading Jamaican firm, Myers, Fletcher & Gordon before being elected Managing Partner in 2003, a position he held for almost a decade.
He served as the Honorary Consul for Sweden in Jamaica and the Honorary Legal Adviser to the British High Commission. He also served on the Disciplinary Committee of the General Legal Council. Retiring from Myers Fletcher & Gordon in 2010, Derek became the Regional Managing Partner with Higgs & Johnson, Cayman, leaving that firm to form HSM Chambers in 2012.
Derek Jones is the Chairman of LIME and the Red Stripe Pension fund in Jamaica and the former president of the Pension Funds Association of Jamaica.
