Mark Russell’s practice focuses primarily on areas of litigation, insolvency, corporate recovery, fraud and commercial litigation.
Mark joined HSM in 2016 with substantive experience in insolvency, restructuring and bankruptcy matters. Having worked with a top Canadian law firm where he acted as counsel on behalf of creditors, debtors, trustees, receivers, liquidators and foreign representatives in various insolvency proceedings; he has built an impressive career in law with work that has included contentious and litigation mandates as well as transactional and advisory roles. Mark also has significant experience in mergers, acquisitions and financing. In 2014 he completed a LLM with distinction from the University of London with a specialisation in International Business Law and acted as Chair of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Section of the Canadian Bar Association, Newfoundland and Labrador Branch from 2010 to 2015. Prior to his call to the bar in Canada, Mark graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Memorial University of Newfoundland and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Ontario. In his spare time Mark enjoys living and working in the Cayman Islands.
