Kate Cleary

Kate manages our Intellectual Property Team and is an experienced IP practitioner, having almost 15 years of knowledge in managing global trade mark portfolios.

Professional Background
Kate joined HSM in March 2017, having previously worked as a Paralegal within the IP department of a United Arab Emirates law firm with an international presence. She then worked in-house as an IP Manager for three global brewing companies in succession, overseeing all aspects of IP and trade mark management for a number of premium beverage household names.

She has managed a number of large-scale recordal and contract novation projects, for worldwide IP portfolios, as well as managing the tender process for the transfer of an extensive European IP portfolio.

Kate’s experience working in the Caribbean and Latin America encompasses all aspects of IP, including contentious matters and prosecution, with wide-ranging experience in working on oppositions, cancellations, infringement actions and office actions. Kate is responsible for managing pre-filing clearance projects and providing advice on filing strategy.

She contributes, or has contributed, to a number of global IP publications, including the Wolters Kluwer Manual IP guide, INTA’s newsletter and the International Comparative Legal Guide.
