Mrinali Menon is a proficient legal practitioner specialising in Intellectual Property and Technology Laws. Mrinali oversees our IP team at HSM IP Ltd. and has extensive experience in managing patent, trade mark, and copyright portfolios for diverse range of brand owners worldwide, including the Caribbean, Central and South America region. She has a deep understanding of intellectual property rights and assists clients in providing strategic advice on portfolio management, enforcement and development.

Professional Background
Prior to joining HSM IP, Mrinali worked in the United States (New York) and India. She brings rich experience in managing both contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters, including trade marks, copyrights, patents, designs, and more. Her expertise spans across prosecution and dispute resolution, including advising clients on complex transactional and corporate issues related to IP acquisition and licensing. Additionally, she is well-versed in areas such as commercial technology agreements, data protection, privacy and security concerns, digital assets, open-source software, and other critical IP matters.

In her previous roles, she represented brand owners in intellectual property infringement cases before the Supreme Court and High Court, managed high-value commercial transactions, and successfully negotiated and finalized deals in both New York and India. Mrinali has also been a part-time Instructor at Columbia University, New York where she taught IP and Technology Law.

Mrinali currently serves as a Member of the International Trademark Association’s (INTA) Brand Restrictions Committee and Outreach Sub-Committee for the 2024-2025 term. The Committee informs policymakers about the important role of trade marks in the economy and society, and the need for balanced regulations that address public health concerns while respecting private property rights.
