The Cayman Business Idea that Earned an Incorporation

On 20 April 2026, Enterprise Cayman announced the winners of the annual Cayman Islands Business Design Competition, where nine Cayman-born ventures competed for a total of USD $16,000 in cash prizes and wraparound business support services. Taking the top honour of Project of the Year was Goodman Powery, founder of BRIKS Advisory, for his Operator Intelligence Engine. A decision intelligence platform aimed at helping investors evaluate real estate deals with greater precision before committing capital.

Following his recognition in the competition, Goodman reflected on the experience and the journey that led to the development of BRIKS Advisory and its award-winning solution.

With nearly two decades of experience in banking, Goodman’s career has been shaped by a deep involvement in corporate credit, specifically in stress-testing real estate deals before they reached credit committee. Through that work, he identified a consistent gap in the market: developers and operators often approached financing discussions without the analytical frameworks that should be used by lenders to fully evaluate risk.

That insight let to the creation of BRIKS Advisory. The company was established to provide what Powery describes as “institutional grade, credit committee-level analysis before capital is committed,” allowing clients to approach investment decisions and financing discussions with the same level of accuracy expected by lenders.

The name itself reflects that ideology. A deliberate play on the word bricks, BRIKS speaks to the foundation of real estate development and investment. Powery explained that the company is intended to serve as the analytical groundwork on which clients can build confident decisions. “Every decision built on our work is built on solid ground,” he mentioned.

Since formally incorporating the business, Powery continues to focus on refining the company’s offerings while expanding their reach beyond the Cayman Islands. He described the incorporation process, facilitated by HSM Corporate Services Ltd., as smooth and efficient, noting that “the incorporation of process through HSM was straightforward and professionally handled,” allowing him to prioritize development over “administration friction”. Establishing BRIKS Advisory in the Cayman Islands, he added, also enhances the firm’s credibility with clients operating across the Caribbean and Latin America.

As words of encouragement to aspiring entrepreneurs, Powery emphasized that while careful planning remains crucial, he encourages individuals to move beyond hesitation and focus on execution. “The gap between a well-reasoned idea and an actual business is smaller than most people allow themselves to believe,” he said. “The hardest part is not the idea. It is committing to the execution.”
